16-Sep-2001 -- The confluence is located near the village of Tufani, 230 meters west of the road. We used an old map of Romania and decided that the best way to approach the site was from Petrosani. Unfortunately we were still 4.5 km away from the point and the GPS showed us that we had to leave the main road and try to go by car on something that looked like a dirt road. This turned out to be full of rocks and dead ends, which made us wish we had a 4x4 vehicle. After we had turned around and tried another approach and another, for several times, we finally came to the road which led to Tufani. So we had crossed the field between the two roads, the one we had taken and the right one to take.
If you wish to visit the confluence, go through Sipotele and continue south to Tufani. The site is on a little hill on the side of the road. Photo 1 is looking west from the site, photo 2 looking south, photo 3 looking west and photo 4 looking north. Photo 5 is the GPS and the last 2 pictures are with the members of the expedition.
