14-Oct-2001 -- The confluence of 48°N 19°E is located on the northern part of Hungary near the Slovakian border. This is the only Hungarian confluence point situated on mountain land. The name of this mountain is Börzsöny whose highest point is the Csóványos peak. The Csóványos peak is 939 meters above the sea level and less than 5 km away from the degree confluence.
Before the visit which brought success I went twice on an exploratory survey by car in order to find the best route to approach the confluence. I tried to get as close as possible to the confluence in order to reduce the distance of the walking tour. I found the steep mountain-sides and the deep valleys to be a very hard terrain. Having traveled round the area by car I selected the best starting point which was 1.7 km away from the confluence. To my surprise, except for a short part the walk was very easy all the way to the confluence. The confluence is situated near a grassy road in the forest on the steep mountain-side, less than 20 meters from the grassy road.
