(visited by Roger Kehm and Clem Tucker (NØRFS))

21-Nov-2001 -- Roger Kehm(KØROG) & Clem Tucker(NØRFS)decided to combine Amateur Radio and DCP activity in east central South Dakota. We arrived near 44N-99W (2.6 miles SSE of Gann Valley, Buffalo County, SD) about 9:45 AM. We took several miles of gravel roads driving N & W to 44N -- a mile east of 99W. The walk west was in harvested fields and the last part of the hike had a barb wire fence separating two harvested corn fields. We crawled through the fence and the site was about 200 feet north of the fence line. We spent about an hour away from the vehicle & stayed at 44N-99W about 20 minutes for the documentation and photographs. We had 2 GPS's of different makes and there was very close agreement with the site readings.

The day was absolutely beautiful for the 21st of November. At that time of day, the temperature was already in the mid 50's, no wind & clear blue sky. The land was essentially level -- good farm ground.

We were glad the crops had been harvested, because there were no farmsteads nearby if we had had to ask permission to go on the land.

Coordinator's Note: This visit is incomplete as it doesn't meet the photo requirements.
