Español

08-Dec-2001 -- We got the confluence point 40ºN 3ºW on a cold Saturday of December (December 8th 2001). That day we woke up early in the morning because we wanted to get another confluence in the same day (40ºN 2ºW, also in Cuenca). The former, very close to Tarancón, was attractive because we could reach it without leaving the way to Cuenca. On the other hand, we were not the first visitors to the place.

Tarancón is a nice Spanish village, belonging to the province of Cuenca (in the Castilla-La Mancha region). It is placed westward 80 km away from the capital. This city is an important farmer center, mainly in olive (manzanilla and cornicabra varieties) and grape. Respecting to its monuments, the Roman Bridge is one of the most important.

We left Madrid at 7:00 a.m. driving along N-III roadway in direction to Valencia. We took the N-400 road approximately at the km 82 (8:00 a.m.) in order to go Cuenca. That road passed along Tarancon, very close to the confluence point. However we didn’t stop this time because we preferred do it when we came back.

In the end, coming back home after having got another confluence (see 40ºN 2ºW) we reached Tarancon at 14:50. We left the car in the side of the road, 300 meters away from the confluence. We crossed the N-400 and went towards the confluence by foot. Finding the exact intersection point was anything but difficult. It was in the middle of a farming soil. My eTrex showed me 5 meters precision.

We took the photos and came back home proudly because we have done "one and a half" confluence points in the same day (I mean half, because we were the second visitors).
