18-Feb-2002 -- Four days after visiting point 26°N 73°E, we went from Dungarpur to Dariawad. Along the road before Aspur we went near the artificial lake Kamlepur. We first tried to reach the point from a little village south of the lake but after walking half an hour we saw that the point was on the opposite side of the lake, near another village. A small road went around the lake across a relatively big dam. We reached the village Karagala and the point is 200 meters ahead at 50 meters from the road (altitude 242 meters).
Some meters away from the point there is a 50 feet deep well bored in grey schist. Four persons work for the government there and are responsible for distributing water.
If you have the opportunity to travel in this region don't miss staying at least one night at Udai Bilas in Dungarpur. This is a 19th century palace transformed into an hotel. You will be hosted by the Maharajah himself. Particularly recommended: inside marble courtyard of the palace, room nr.9 with many mirrors and swimming pool with view on the lake. Don't miss also the visit of the wonderful old Fort near the village.
