01-May-2002 -- Already more than three months have elapsed since I have visited the first point from Russia. Surprisingly meanwhile nobody could submit another point from this huge country, so we will be the ones to continue.

This time we are bound for Saint Petersburg. Saint Petersburg is located on the Eastern end of the Gulf of Finland, and in the Gulf of Finland (Finskiy Zaliv) there are several small islands.

And from 60°N/27°E, just in the traffic separation scheme through the Gulf of Finland there is Ostrov Gogland (Gogland Island).

We were at the point just 22 m too far in the SE, in position 59°99,997'N and 27°00,021'E at 06:39 hrs.

The southernmost tip of the Island is called Mys Lounatrivi. The highest elevation of Gogland island is 176 m (577 ft).

What else is special with this tiny Island? If we do not consider the Kaliningradskiy/Königsberg District, being an exclave of the Russian Federation, Ostrov Gogland is the Westernmost tip of the Russian mainland!

And when passing Gogland it is only another eight hours to Saint Petersburg, and that means: it is high time for the Captain to start to prepare all the necessary documents for the port-entry (crew lists, customs declarations, health declaration, currency declaration, cargo manifests, ...). Further the crew's documents and certificates have to be ready for the inspection. Seamen do need a lot of different papers. "Normal" people do travel just with their passport, but we need a lot of additional papers, as the International Vaccination Certificate, various Licences of Competency and the Seafarer's Book, with whom we can enter any country of the world without a visa.

01-05-2002 -- Уже больше чем три месяца протекли, как я посетил первый Пункт в России. Удивительно, что за это время никто не смог представить другой пункт в этой огромной стране, так что мы будем теми, кто продолжит.

На сей раз мы направляемся в Санкт-Петербург. Санкт-Петербург находится на Восточной части Финского залива, а в Финском заливе есть несколько маленьких островов.

И в координатах 60°С/27°В, есть Oстров Гогланд.

Мы были от пункта на расстоянии 22 метра к Юговостоку, в позиции 59°99,997'N и 27°00,021'E в 06:39 часах.

Самый южный конец Острова называется Мыс Лунатриви. Самое высокое возвышение острова 176 м.

Что еще является интересным на этом крошечном Острове? Если мы не рассматриваем Kалининградскую/Königsberg Область, являющийся частью Российской Федерации, Oстров Гогланд - крайняя западная точка России!

После прохождения Гогланда остаётся восемь часов хода до Санкт-Петербурга. И это означает - пора для Капитана. Начинать готовить все необходимые документы для входа в порт (список членов команды, Таможенные декларации, декларация здоровья, декларация валюты, грузовую декларацию... Далее документы команды и удостоверения должны быть готовы к проверке. Моряки нуждаются в много различных бумаг. "Нормальные" люди путешествуют только с их паспортом, но мы нуждаемся во многих дополнительных бумагах, как Международное Свидетельство о Прививках, различные Лицензии Компетентности и паспорт моряка, с которым мы можем въезжать в любую страну мира без Визы.
