01-Sep-2002 -- Earlier this day I had visited 67Nx21E. After that visit I drove from Liikavaara (outside Gällivare) to Nuksujärvi. A couple of kilometer north of Nuksujärvi I turned east on a small gravel road. The road ends just 700 meters from the confluence point. However, the road got a little bit too bumpy for my Saab 9-5, so I didn't dare drive the last kilometer. I left the car and walked up to the confluence.
Halfway up to the confluence a car passed by. I was so surprised to see a car out here that I didn't think of asking for a lift. The day after today the hunting season for moose starts. There are approximately 200.000 moose hunters in Sweden (8.6 million people total). Therefore, there is a lot of activity in the forest this time a year. I guess the guy in the car was doing some sorts of preparation before the big day...
The confluence is located at the south-east corned of a clear-felled area. In the vicinity of the confluence point the trees seem to be 5-10 years old. The other part of the clear-felled area must have been cut down rather recently, there are almost no trees at all there.
