07-May-2000 -- My roommate decided he wanted to spend the summer with his fiancee in Bismarck, ND. I agreed to help drive his car from our house in Anchorage, AK. down the Alaska Highway to North Dakota, some 2800+ miles. We left at 9pm on Thursday and crossed the Canadian-U.S. border at North Portal, ND. 5am Sunday morning. My girlfriend picked me up near Minot to take me to Billings, Mt. where I would catch a plane Monday morning and be at my desk in Anchorage by noon, before anyone really knew I was gone. Shortly after switching cars I turned on my GPS and we had just went by a confluence point. We backtracked a short distance on ND 1804 to Buford and turned north on Williams County Rd 5. Just over a bridge that spanned the railroad tracks we turned into an approach to some fields. A short walk into the fields brought us to the point. My fourth visit to a point in North Dakota and quite frankly they all looked the same to me.
