21-Apr-2003 -- Trip to Abhā, al-Bāḥa, al-Līth, Ṭā'if and back to Riyāḍ (Second part, see First part at 20N 44E)
It was already on our way home to Riyāḍ when we decided to visit the confluence 22N 41E. During the last days, we had seen so many different and beautiful countryside, the `Asīr Mountains, the Red Sea by al-Līth and the hot springs at `Uyūn Ḥārra. We also had a new experience when we decided to take the track from the hot springs through the wādiy up to Road no. 15, which would lead us to Ṭā'if. Near to the end of the wādiy we had to manage three steep ways, which are normally used by Bedouins. Fortunately no tires burst and no cars broke down. Now we know how one feels when next to the car there is a precipice of 1500 m and more.
It was late afternoon of April 21 when we reached the Confluence. For our kids it was a surprise when they suddenly found chocolate eggs and sweets, which we suggested the Easter bunny lost the day before. Have a look at the happy kids in the desert who just found their sweets (Photo 6).
It was only a short stop because we had to find a nice campsite. The next day we visited the palace at Old Muwayh app. 150 km northeast of the Confluence and near to the Wahba Crater.
