English version

21-Sep-2003 -- We left the city of Fortaleza, precisely, at 6:00 am of a beautiful morning heading to the town of Russas, on the search of our first Confluence.

Flávio Torres and Gerardo Barbosa on a pickup VW Saveiro and Augusto César on a motorcycle Honda Shadow, in order to get to places that the car would not go. I, that together with my friend Roberto Targino, had already flown over the area in an Ultralight, knew immediately that this bike was too heavy for the kind of roads we had ahead.

With the planning made possible by the flight observations, it was not difficult to find a road with a bridge to cross the river Banabuiú and already near the border of another river, the Jaguaribe, we stopped the car at a distance of 620 meters away from the point 5ºS 38ºW, after having travelled 189 km.

At this time Augusto César was already in the pickup since he had a collision with the planet Earth, after the first 10 meters of rough roads. After a 15 minutes’ walk, trough an area with Carnauba palms and scarce vegetation, without any obstacle, not even a fence to jump, we arrived at the desired point.
