06-Nov-2003 -- This Confluence is near the end of a depression known as Kharīmat Mubarraz. There is an airstrip near by that was probably used during oil exploration in the area.
The Confluence itself is in the dunes to the south of the depression. The sand was hard and we drove to within about 200 meters. I walked around the dune ridges circling the Confluence and eventually managed to stand on the spot (plus or minus 6 meters). The weather was quite pleasant with a slight breeze although walking on the sand was tiring and I worked up a fair sweat with a temperature of about 32°C.
While in the area we spotted a number of fresh gazelle tracks as well as reptile and rodent tracks. Probably not much to go back for, but it was a fun trip and my first Confluence.
