#1: at 100 meters from the confluence point

(visited by luis silva)

29-Feb-2004 -- On February 29th (Sunday) my daughter Lizette and I went to Ciudad Jimenez (220 kms south of Chihuahua) to wait her Mom & sister who where driving from Monterrey.
The plan was to stay at the roadside waiting for them in our Jeep and after joining them, drive back home in both cars.

But, two days before, a good friend (Ernesto Royval) told me that a Confluence Point is located very close from the town, and then, after getting some food & refreshments, we drove heading to the confluence point at N 27 W 105.
After 20 kms, we arrived to a little town named Villa Lopez where we found a nice place to swim and have a picnic next to a river. It will be a future destination to go with friends and relatives.
There, we decided to proceed over some dirty roads trying to find a way to reach the confluence point; it was not so difficult because the roads were very easy to drive on, and the last trail left us so close to the point around the 120 meters.
There Lizette decided to stay on board (she didn’t want to face a snake or a spider) and then, after some shots, I walked to the exact place indicated by the GPS.

Once there, the accuracy was around 4 meters in the exact point, and I found myself in the middle of a semi-dessert place where only cactus and spine bushes surround me. The weather was at 26 C (79 F) as I started to make the photos.
The picture aimed to west can show you some constructions and the main church at Villa Lopez (4.2 kms from the point in straight line)

After the pictures, we drove back to Villa Lopez and we could see some rabbits, a coyote, some squirrels and a woodpecker. Lizette was surprised because the bird really makes big noise picking and its head was very red.
