16-Mar-2003 -- We successfully visited 20S 47W. Madagascar is a fantastic and gracious land, that I had heard whispers of for many years. It is today still relatively little travelled, and quite far off the beaten path. We enjoyed being the first to successfully visit a confluence on Madagascar.
The area around the confluence point is rolling hills and is near to the main highway from Madagascar's capital Tana heading southward, not far from a town with hot springs. This drive through the central highlands is wonderful to behold, as the successively different glories of the countryside and terrains unfold. The farmers of the area around the Confluence grow rice and herd zebu (similar to ox, very highly regarded in Madagascar).
