15-Jul-2004 -- The previous visitors have already mentioned the town of Kourim (1.5 km W) which is really worth visiting for its well preserved walls with the Prague Gate, Gothic church of St. Stephen, Renaissance belfry or the open-air Village Museum with examples of traditional folk architecture (on SW edge of the town).

Closer to the confluence, only several hundred metres to west and southwest, there is a low hill with remains of an old fortified settlement built by the Slavic tribe of Zlicans in 9th century A.D. This location is called Stara Kourim (Old Kourim). Three lines of fortification enclosing an area of 40 ha are still visible. The archaeologists discovered evidence of an almost 90 m long hall building nearby the Baroque chapel on the top of the hill. There is also a small water reservoir called Libuse in the SE part of the forified area. Close to this pond there was a holy place where the rulers of this area were buried.

I came to the confluence from west across the field covered with some low forage plants. The yellow pole is still there, but IMO it doesn't mark the exact confluence. I visited the spot twice this month and according to my GPSr the actual confluence is approximately six metres NNW from the pole. The basic DCP description of the confluence says the altidude of the spot should be 249 m. This is not true; more fitting altitude is 261 m (+-3 m). I have checked it on a detailed 1:50000 map. The spot is very easily accessible; it is only 70 metres south from the road connecting Kourim and Svojsice.

15-Jul-2004 -- Moji predchudci uz zminili mesto Kourim vzdalene 1,5 km zapadnim smerem. Kourim ma spoustu pametihodnosti: z velke casti dochovane hradby s Prazskou branou, goticky kostel sv. Stepana, renesancni zvonici ci skanzen lidove architektury (na JZ kraji mesta).

Blize k pruseciku, pouhych nekolik set metru zapadnim respektive jihozapadnim smerem, se zveda nizke navrsi s pozustatky hradiste kmene Zlicanu z 9. stoleti.

To neni pravda zcela urcite.
