#1: The view to the west

(visited by Ben Eenhoorn)

15-Jul-2004 -- I visited this confluence on the way home to Perth after being in the Kimberley for a month. I'd been watching latitudes and longitudes scroll by on the GPS, noting every camp site, saving the tracks. And dang it, I hadn't visited any confluences. But finally, I'd gotten to one.

A nondescript area beside the Great Northern Highway. Just a few hundred metres out, it looks the same in every direction. Red earth, harsh ground cover.

Sure, it's been visited before, but this is a first for me. I just know I'll be looking for more in the future, because the Kimberley is said to get into your blood. And it has in mine. The confluences await.
