15-Aug-2004 -- We decided to look for a confluence this weekend. We left then Chihuahua by highway to the town Maclovio Herrera from where, according to available maps, we should follow the Conchos river, even though the settlers warned us about the mud.

We continued on board of our 4x4s according to the indications of the GPS. At the front my wife Liz our daughters and I, following Pope Doc, Jose Luis Carrasco, Benjamin Carrasco, Kike, Jesus Acosta, Carlos Castillo and Willy Garcia. I had to be towed out of the mud on three different occasions but it was a fun and nice ride.

Almost two hours after initiating the trail, we met the paved highway that we had left behind, which is quite recent and not shown in maps.We took the pavement and continued for another 6 kms till we where at 350 mts of the confluence. There was a gate to a ranch we continued up to 90 mts from our target. We left the vehicles and continue afoot up to the site indicated by the GPS.

We found a mantle of flint stone and quartz with capricious formation, and some puddles of water from the previous rain. The vegetation is desert type and though we were alert for serpents in the zone, we did not see any.The point is at 1,142 meters above sea level, in a great esplanade. In one of the photos you see the group of adventurous friends (close to my family, I am the one with an orange shirt)
