16-Aug-2004 -- Having just done N48 E14 we headed along the A1 motorway coming
off at the Waidhofen a.d. Ybbs turn off, then heading towards Gresten and finally towards the CP.
This took quite a long time as the route is fairly slow and we had already been travelling some hours since we had left Salzburg in the morning. The inefficiency of the road system did not help either - a distance of 70-odd km as the crow flies
from N48 E14 to N48 E15 translates into probably double that on the road.
The upshot of all this was that Michael
was losing patience with Daddys hobby and wanted to get to Vienna a.s.a.p.
Luckily this CP was an easy one to get to with only a few paces from the car to the CP. Finding the right spot and getting all zeros proved to be difficult as the CP was under the cover of trees which were presumably affecting the satellite signals. It took me about 10 minutes of wandering around away from the cover of the trees and back until eventually I got those elusive zeros.
The actual point is off the side of the road almost in the stream that runs along side the road. As you can imagine (well actually you probably can't) Michael was not a happy child by this point. I then wanted to visit the Meridian stone situated nearby but got and emphatic no! from Michael.
So we headed back towards the A1 stopping to get some lunch on the way. Having been fed Michael was content again - children are a bit like dogs - keep them well fed and they are happy. Little did he know we were now heading for
N48 E16!
