13-Oct-2004 -- Esta aventura comienza en fecha 14 de octubre del 2004, en Palmacaoba, sitio turístico situado en el golfo de Morrosquillo, entre Coveñas y Tolú. Palmacaoba está situado a 9º 27.5’ 18” latitud Norte y 75º 36’ 9” longitud Oeste. A las 6:00 a.m. me dirijo desde Coveñas rumbo a Cereté en bus intermunicipal que paraba a recoger pasajeros en cualquier momento.
El Viaje dura dos horas aproximadamente hasta encontrarme con mi amigo Juan Fernando Vergara y en su vehículo nos dirigimos a Montería, capital del departamento de Córdoba donde nos esperaba nuestro amigo Iván Díaz. Luego de desayunar y revisar todo lo necesario para esta visita, salimos hacia el sitio Holanda aproximadamente a las 9:00 a.m., pasamos el río Sinú y nos dirigimos por la carretera que conduce a Arboletes y luego de 30 km de vía pavimentada, abandonamos esta vía y comenzamos a viajar por una trocha de tierra en mal estado a causa de la temporada de lluvias que para la fecha existe.
Comenzamos a seguir la flecha del GPS rumbo a Holanda, pero al llegar a una finca ganadera con este nombre, nos damos cuenta que estamos a más de 15 kilómetros de las coordenadas buscadas. Corregimos el rumbo y seguimos solamente guiados por el GPS. A pesar de viajar en un vehículo todo terreno el mal estado de la vía hace que el vehículo se bloquee por completo en un barrizal. Con la ayuda de unos campesinos logramos salir del mal paso luego de perder más de media hora.
Continuamos y llegamos a un pequeño caserío donde nos hidratamos e ingerimos algunas comidas rápidas. En un cruce de caminos el amigo Iván Díaz, quien es conocedor de la zona toma el rumbo correcto y nos dirigimos a otro sitio que por coincidencia también se llama Holanda , que es una gran finca de ganadería.
Cuando el GPS marca 3 kilómetros hasta el punto, dejamos la vía carreteable y entramos por los potreros de la finca, hasta llegar a la casa de los mayordomos. Luego de saludar y pedir permiso, nos dirigimos caminando por unos potreros ondulados hasta llegar a la confluencia a la 12:15 p.m. Con gran felicidad celebramos el momento y tomamos las fotos necesarias para justificar esta llegada exacta a la confluencia de 9ºN 76ºW.
Luego de haber recorrido mas de 75 kilómetros desde Montería iniciamos el regreso por la vía que conduce al municipio de San Pelayo. Dedico a mi niña Estefanía quien vive y estudia en París esta segunda visita personal a una confluencia acá en Colombia donde esperamos su pronto regreso.

This adventure starts October the 14th of 2004, at Palmacaoba, a tourist spa in the Morrosquillo gulf, between Coveñas y Tolú. Palmacaoba is located in 9º 27.5’ 18” N 75º 36’ 9” W. At 6:00 a.m. I was heading to Cereté by bus, which was stopping to pick up passengers anytime the driver wanted.
The trip was two hours long until I met my friend Juan Fernando Vergara and using his car we traveled to Montería, the capital of Córdoba, where another friend, Iván Díaz, was waiting for us. After having breakfast and preparing all the stuff for the visit, we left for a place called Holanda, about 9:00 a.m., we crossed the Sinú river and continued on the way to Arboletes. After 30 kilometers road, we took an unpaved road which was in bad condition because of the raining season.
We were following the GPS arrow to Holanda but when we arrived to a farm with this name we notice that we were 15 kilometers away of the right coordinates. We changed our direction and went on guided only by the GPS. Although we were riding an all terrain vehicle, the bad conditions made the car to get stuck in a quag. With the help of a group of countrymen we finally left behind the bad terrain after losing more than half hour. We continued and arrived to a small village where we ate some fast food.
In a crossroad Iván Díaz, who knows the area, chose the right way and we finally reached Holanda, which turned out to be another farm. We are 3 kilometers away from the confluence when we left the road and entered the farm´s camps, until we found the butler’s house. After greeting and asking for permission, we walked through a broken terrain until the confluence point about 12:15 p.m.
With happiness we celebrated and took the necessary photographs to support our achievement. After traveling more than 75 kilometers from Montería, we begun the journey back using the road to the town of San Pelayo. I dedicate this second visit to my daughter Estefanía, who lives and studies in Paris. We are waiting for your return.
