#1: THE POINT

(visited by Matjaz Gorjup, Maja Potocnik, Mak Potocnik and Gozdana Petric)

11-Nov-2001 -- To attack this confluence point is a real piece of cake. The point lies not even 100 meters below the local road, connecting some houses, dispersed on the noth-east side of the hill with the nearby villages Gabrovka and Ceplje. The slope is litte bit of a steep one and due to the dense forest the GPS signal was from time to time disappearing. Therefore it needed quite some patience to verify whether we really reached. However since it was a sunny and warm day we had all the time to localize the point precisely.

The three dogs present (oops I have forgotten to include their names - for the sake of justice I will name them here: Selkis, Sesa & Popi) enjoyed hunting the local rabbits and foxes. Unfortunately they have brought no trophies to share them with us.

As soon as we localized the point precisely - by placing the appropriate pole right on the spot - the great moment of documenting the outstanding achievement has come. Unfortunately we had to discover how big a disaster has happened on the way to the top. Carrying the digital camera over the rough terrain has obviously activated the LCD display and drained completely the batteries. Now with only one set of batteries it was impossible to take a photo of a GPS display. We have attempted warming up the batteries, making different combinations of loaded and empty ones... Nothing worked. Therefore we have decided to document the point without the GPS readout, to leave the pole right there and go for a lunch. Some other day we (or maybe somebody else) can try and finish off the posting also by including the missing FORMALITY. Up to now our team has been disabled, by an outrageous wave of flu attacks, to add the missing link.
