26-Nov-2019 -- I’m spending a couple of days on holiday on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, so I had a day free to do a long drive (almost 2 hours each way) to pay a visit to this point, which had not been visited in almost 13 years.
From the Burnett Highway, I took Oakfield Road to Oakfield North Road. I parked at [-26.01022,151.98973], just outside a farm entrance, and 1.5 km Southeast of the point. From there, I hiked over a small wooded hill, then over a flat farm field, and then up another small wooded hill. The point lies on the hillside, next to a creek bed. Of course, the creek bed was bone dry, as this region (like much of eastern Australia) is currently in extreme drought. It’s remarkable to compare the dry vegetation here to the lush greenery that was visible in Owen Foley’s visit 19 years ago, in December 2000.
