10-Sep-2020 -- I had previously visited this Degree Confluence Point 4.5 years ago, but - while driving from Hanmer Springs to Dunedin - decided to revisit it, to get a ‘drone’s eye’ view. To my surprise, the field (in which the point lies) is no longer being used to grow vegetables. Instead, it has reverted to a cattle farm (although no cattle were in the field when I visited). Apart from this, the surrounding fields looked much as I remembered from my previous visit.
I had forgotten to bring my GPS receiver with me on this trip, so instead had to use my iPhone’s “Compass” app to give me a latitude and longitude. The reading was in Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds. This gave me a precision of about 31 meters of latitude, and about 22 metres of longitude, so from this (using Pythagoras’s theorem) I conservatively estimated the accuracy as 38 metres.
Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
