#1: The confluence point lies in a forest, just off a doubletrack path. (A 'geocache' box - at the base of a tree - marks the point.)

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

03-Nov-2012 -- I ended my confluence-hunting trip around Georgia (and northern Florida) by visiting this easy confluence point in a forest on the north-western edge of Atlanta. Driving from the confluence point immediately to the south [33,-85], I drove first along rustic country roads (with pretty fall colors), and then along 4-lane roads through the urban sprawl of suburban Atlanta.

A paved country road passes less than 1/4 mile north-east of the confluence point. Parking here, I followed a path across a nearby railroad track (after having to wait for a long train - carrying many Caterpillar heavy equipment vehicles - to pass). Then, a doubletrack path took me just feet from the confluence point, which lies just off the path, in a forest.

Surprisingly, although this confluence point had been visited 11 times before, mine was the project's first recorded visit in more than 4 years. (However, a 'geocache' log book at the confluence point shows that there had been a few other visitors earlier this year.)
