03-Dec-2009 -- The visit to this confluence point was part of an over 300 km long offroad expedition through the Empty Quarter. We started from Dubayy on the morning of 2 December and entered the desert from E-22. We drove through the sand tracks and high sand dunes to reach the confluence point. By the time of sunset, we were some 6 km away from 23N 55E. We decided to call it a day and to camp in the wild.
We resumed our drive in the morning and could drive up to within 300 meters of the target after crossing a couple of high sand dune ridges. Thereafter it was a trek through the sand. The confluence team reached the spot without much difficulty.
There's no change in the terrain and no visible activity was observed in the vicinity from the reports of the earlier visitors to the spot.
We clicked the customary pictures and resumed our expedition, wherein we camped near the desert town of Ḥamīm on 3 December, and ultimately finished the expedition in the afternoon of 4 December.
