#1: View North

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

19-May-2018 -- Driving through central Kentucky, frequent heavy thunderstorms prevented me from trekking to a couple of Degree Confluence Points. But fortunately the weather had cleared by the time that I visited this point, one hour before sunset.

The interesting thing about this point is that it lies close to the edge of (an arm of) Lake Cumberland - a large man-made lake in central Kentucky. Parks Ridge Road - a narrow paved road - runs towards the edge of the lake, ending just 450 feet East of the point.

The point itself lies in a patch of forest, so the lake is not visible from there (nor from Parks Ridge Road). However, by sending up a drone, I was able to get views of the lake from about 400 feet up, above the tree tops.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
