04-Jul-2014 -- Story continues from 40°N 122°E.

All day long, Andy had been demanding that we go to a cake shop, so he could buy Targ a chocolate birthday cake. As evening approached, the likelihood of this happening was looking slimmer and slimmer.

Our first order of business, upon reaching Zhuānghé (庄河市), was to find accommodation. We cruised the town for a while before finding a nice hotel in a side street that would take us. We then set out on foot to look for a cake shop.

Lo and behold, the first shop we came to, just around the corner from the hotel, was a cake shop! So Andy had his wish, and Targ had his chocolate birthday cake. We ate it in the hotel lobby, and shared the considerable leftovers with the girls at reception, who played "happy birthday" music over the loud speakers.

The next day was another mainly overcast day. This was to be our final day of confluencing, with only two more land-based Liáoníng confluences left to visit.

The first of these was relatively straightforward. We parked the car at the side of the main road, 80 metres north of the confluence, then found our way through fields of corn and soya beans to the confluence, situated in an orchard. The fruit, which we assumed were pears based on the previous visitors' report, were all individually wrapped in protective paper sleeves.

We snapped a photo of the GPS, then of the views to the north, south, east and west, finishing off with a photo of the three of us. We left via the nearby farmhouse, but unlike the previous visitors, did not encounter any of the inhabitants.

Story continues at 41°N 123°E.
