#1: View East towards the confluence point, in this lake, 94 metres away

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

28-Jul-2014 -- Looking at satellite imagery beforehand, I knew that I wasn't going to get 'all zeros' on this confluence point, because it lies within a small lake. I noticed, however, that a peninsula on the north-western shore of the lake jutted out to about 100 metres from the point. If I were to hike to the very end of this peninsula, I wondered, could I possibly get close enough to log a successful visit?

Sure enough, when I got the end of the peninsula, I found that I was 94 metres from the point. According to my GPS receiver, the location error was +/-4 metres, but without receiving a WAAS satellite. Whenever I get a GPS reading without WAAS, I assume a minimum error of +/-5 metres, even if my receiver shows a smaller error. So, I assume that I got at least 99 metres from the confluence point - barely enough to count as a successful visit!
