#1: Confluence point

(visited by John Dag Hutchison and Jin)

05-Aug-2023 -- We followed the Google navigator through Dacia (where the car's name comes from?), Jilbert and Lovnic towards the confluence point. In Jilbert we stopped for a photo of a stork in the nest on top of a telephone pole. We then found the confluence point to be around 900 meters on a long climb up from the road. The elevation was not more than around 80 – 90 meters, but in 31 degrees that was more than enough. The actual point was just over the hilltop. And there the grass seemed to have been trampled down in a circle. Had there been other cp hunters lately? I took the required photos and then discovered a shepherd and about a hundred sheep only a hundred meters further north. We had no common language and my demonstration of coordinates on the Garmin probably did not tell him anything.

Back in the car we decided to continue the same road hoping to find our way to Sighisoara. There was no internet coverage so we could not revive the Google map. (We had no proper road map.) The road went from asphalt to a rough gravel track not suitable for a VW Polo. On the return we stopped for a chat with some villagers in a village called Nagymoha, or Grinari in Hungarian. They were only 300 people there now, some worked in agriculture, some in nearby towns. They were the remnants of Hungarians who had settled here hundreds of years ago. Their village had been blessed with storks’ nests along the main, and only, road. Along the road we also found a beekeeper who had rebuild a truck to a collection of small colourful beehives.

Ps. The date on the Garmin is wrong.
