14-Aug-2024 -- This is the 8th out of 10 reports visiting confluence points during a 10-day bicycle trip from Biała Podlaska (Poland) to Chemnitz (Germany). The story starts at 52°N 23°E and continues from 51°N 18°E.
5:30 a.m. cooked oatmeal. 6:45 a.m. departure from Namysłów. There was quite a lot of traffic today, simply because Lower Silesia is densely populated. At around 10:00 a.m. I reached Wroclaw (Breslau), a city that, like Krakow, survived the Second World War with almost no destruction. For once, I sat down in a café on the beautiful town hall square and ordered two breakfasts, because after 55 km I was hungry again. However, it was a lot, but I just managed to eat it all. Then it became very hot and I had to pour water on my head several times to avoid overheating. I had a light tailwind, which of course is always desirable, but today it meant that I had no wind at all while riding and the sweat was just dripping down my face. At midday I reached this confluence coming from north on the road Wrocławska. I parked my bike at the road in 140m distance and walked across the barren field to the confluence. I rarely say that a confluence is boring, but here I have to admit that the visit was unspectacular.
After the visit, I continued cycling in order to catch the next confluence one degree further west bevore sunset.
