Mejor volvíamos tranquilos a casa.

25-Nov-2005 -- A LONG WALKING AND TWO ENIGMAS

The aquatic visit on 37°S 57°W have left us very tired, but the enthusiasm to achieve our plans was stronger. Recovered after the bath in the sea and the lunch in Pinamar, we departed to the west by route 74 to “Las Armas”, where we refilled gasoline and hot water for the “mate”.

The dirt rural path to Albarden was a few kilometres to the west and according to the satellital photographs it would put at 3 km of the confluence. There, we would analyze the ways to do the approach to it. We had very much desired to reach the confluence but very low desired to walk ...

In front of a gate with a padlock, the GPS indicated 2900 meters in straight line to the confluence in the nearest point. We tried to contact someone in the near ranch houses for permission but noone appeared; then we had to leave the vehicle and started to walk for 6 km round trip.

Tired but encouradged, we slowly approached the confluence, jumping some fences again. Finally, after 45 minutes of walking, we reached the exact confluence point. We were very happy because we had conquered the last unvisited land confluence in the Buenos Aires province. Now, someone with a boat must attempt to reach the last two water ones near Bahia Blanca to complete all of them (39S 63W and 39S 62W).

The return was hard, because the opposing wind added to our fatigue and difficulted our progress. When our car was visible, we also saw a horseman ridding towarrd us. Probably the landowner saw us and wanted to know what we where doing there.

Nevertheless, he turned to our 4x4 and was several minutes around it, searching some reason for our presence. Then, as we approached, he rode to his near ranch house, that we have visited for permission at first without signs of human presence.

We wondered: just now, in our minute of glory, do we have to have problems ?

Already in our car, we decided to go to meet the horseman in his house to explain our presence and to avoid bad interpretations. We went to the ranch house and again noone appeared. A horse was there but the men wasn’t. Then, we forgot the matter and returned to our route to the last confluence of the trip, the 36S 58W.

On the rural path near Labardén, a white pickup approached us and resulted to be the police !!!!!. I said to Pablito: Be quiet, surely we will have to do some explaining about our adventure because the horseman called by radio and the police went after us. When both cars met, a typical greetings with the lights and nothing else.

Two enigmas will remain without answer: the horseman will never know why we were there (except that he reads this narrative in www.confluence.org) and we will never know what he thought of us and if the police was called for him.

On the paved highway of route 2, we put the course to the DC 36S 58W, the last confluence of the day when the loss of the satellital signal gave us a signal: better to go directly to home because the new visit would be by night and the narrative of the previous visitors indicated difficulties to access.

The mission was enough completed: five on six successful visits were not bad for two days.

The confluence 36S 58W will be part of other trip with the excuse of completing the line 36 across the country, like I explained in other narratives.
