(visited by Gordon Spence)

08-Sep-2007 -- Florida 2007 continued - this is visit number 99. It's Saturday and we've spent the last two days in Orlando. Firstly at the Florida Mall (260 stores and apparently we are going back next week...), then an evening at the Dixie Stampede which is fantastic family entertainment. Friday was spent at Seaworld and then a leisurely drive back to Spring hill and our villa.

Today dawns bright, hot & sunny, so no surprises at all there then and we are hitting the beach this afternoon. I want to avoid being on the beach in the heat of the day - we are only 28N and the sun is strong - so I planned to nip out here this morning.

Once again the sat-nav over estimated the time required to cover 62 miles and I am parked in front of the RV dealership(?) It appears to be more of an auto repair centre, but whatever it is, it was shut! Standing outside the gates was close enough to be successful but...There was a truck outside the gates and closer inspection showed they were slightly open. An invitation if ever there was one so I went and knocked on the door!

When the owner came to the door I started to explain and he simply said "GPS?, over there behind the fence". I walked towards it and he told me it was the other side and there was a path there. I've got news for him, it is definitely in his yard. I nailed the accuracy to 12 feet and I am 20 feet from the fence...

On the way back I recrossed the rail line from earlier, but this time I stopped to photograph it, unlike at home (UK) there are no gates or barriers...but on a fence post about 30 yards away was this mug - it says "No place like home".

Back to the villa for 12:45pm and then off to Pine Island Beach.
