#1: Confluence point

(visited by John Dag Hutchison and Aase Tveitan Hutchison)

16-Apr-2008 -- It always is more difficult to be the first visitor to a cp. Barbara Loebau did not have the advantage of studying the Google maps which we had. Their riding a tandem certainly made it a lot more strenuous and eventful than arriving by car.

We followed their description and drove the 6 - 7 km from Aggius through cork forests and a "stone" forest with impressive rocks on top of each other to the San Pietro di Ruda chapel and turned right. Another hundred meters on we turned left and drove about 4 km to a small building on the left. There we parked the car and took a small unpaved road which led to a small farm.

We did not actually enter the court yard but continued past it. A small path in the direction took us almost straight to the cp. A kennel next to the path made certain that the whole region knew we were there. One of the dogs had a most peculiar howling, like a two toned car alarm. As the first visitors we found the point just behind a rather tall stone fence with barbed wire on top and decided 14 m was close enough.

On the way back to the car we noticed footprints of cows, horses and possibly boars. Our guide book had mentioned that there are wild horses and boars in the highlands so we just let our imagination run wild. Spring had arrived and many flowers were out. They were real.
