#1: 360-degree panorama from the bike path 30 m from the point

(visited by Terje Mathisen)

21-Sep-2008 -- After visiting 50°N 8°E in Germany I lined up to wait for the ferry across the river Rhine, then drove one degree further south, to this point.

Since it is located just over the border from Germany into France, I had the opportunity to check what a border crossing within the Schengen area of the EU means these days: Pretty much nothing except a sign, and the fact that street signs change language. :-)

The confluence itself is extremely easy to reach, and has therefore had a lot of visits: It is a few meters away from a road and a bike path, just at a point where there's a turnoff from the road into a rest spot.

I had good differential GPS conditions, but I didn't get a photo of the screen at the zero point. The track log shows the path I took for the 20+ meters into the forest.

Since this was my first confluence point in France, it increased my total to 18 different countries.

After getting all the photos, I got back into my tiny two-seater rental car and drove to a hotel in Karlsruhe, where I stayed before going on to 49°N 9°E early the next morning.
