23-Apr-2011 -- After visiting the confluence 8N 65W, and having had a hearty lunch at the restaurant "El Merey Grill", the thirteen members of the confluence team: Rainer Bostelmann Rosalda Roscioli, Jose Antonio Toledo, Mauricio Pagavino, Eva Torres, Luis ManuelGonzalez, Cedric Pagavino, Carmen Elena Toledo Morales, Carlos Chávez, Heleanny Toledo, Careys Chavez, and Oscar Gonzalez Arianny Toledo, went on our 4-wheelers to the confluence 9N 65W, located at 178 km from where we were.

We set course westbound by the Road 15 up to N8 49 03.5 W65 06 42.5, then we drove north by a paved road, then on N8 57 37.3 W65 05 48.6 turned east by a dirt summer road, which eventually became threshing, going through countless ranches, with a vegetation of savannah and in some part forested for several hours. It was already 4:45 p.m. when we arrived at a cattle farm, called "Los Abuelos” (The Grandparents), located in the sector "La Pereña" at N9 0 55.48 W65 00 39.2, cared by Tranquini family. We asked for permission to camp being, who kindly gave us a space near of the farm house.

Immediately we proceeded to set the camp up, so we would not have to do it at night, and at 5:30 p.m. we had a refreshing splash in the farm pond, located about 200 meters away from where we camped. In return, almost at dusk, we had to guess the path back, as darkness almost would not let us see the road. At night in the camp, we proceeded to have dinner and we started telling stories of experiences of each of us and many jokes, until about 11 p.m. when we turned off the power plant and went to our tents.

The next day, we were awakened very early by the singing of birds and Mrs. Tranquini who surprisingly had prepared coffee, which we had, and proceeded to make conversation on the confluence to be visited. We left at 7:05 a.m., accompanied by Mr. Luis Javier Ramos “Wicho”. We arrived to the point where we had left our cars at N09 00 10 W65 00 41 at 1300 mts from the CP, then we started our hike along a path full of weed, and at 7:45 a.m. were doing the Confluence Dance. In the site is a very high tree forest and with a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius.

After visiting the confluence, we proceeded to return, but not before starting the search for two of our companions, who had returned without the respective track back of the GPS to find the way back. Again at Los Abuelos farm, we started collecting the camp when a children's choir singing four-part with the child Alí Tranquini, who attends the Popular Symphonic Orchestra of Guárico State, surprised me and delighted us with folkloric music of our great composer Hugo Blanco, “Moliendo Café”. We immediately got our photo and video cameras to record the great moment that we enjoyed.

We had our breakfast, we took our stuff, having been invited by Tranquini family to visit them in August at the harvest of maize, to taste delicious “cachapas” (local food, made of corn), prepared by Mrs. Tranquini. Once we had picked up camp and said goodbye to the family, the group split, some with destination to the east of the country and others to visit that same day the confluence 9N 66W, which was the subject of another report. On behalf of the team, we thank Tranquini family for their hospitality, which made us feel like we were in our own home.
