13-Oct-2012 -- Continued from 26S 128E.

Having dropped several members of the "Damo's Confluence Trip" team at Yulara (the resort near Uluru or Ayers Rock) for their flights home, we had time on our hands for a poke around and maybe take in a new confluence.

Pre-trip research using Google Earth revealed a very basic track running north from near the Yulara airport, across Lake Amadeus, to Kings Canyon. This track runs very close to 25S 131E on the southern shores of the Lake (it being a large dry salt lake).

Following this track for about 20 km through dunes and stands of desert oaks we came onto a large linear salt lake and sped toward our confluence for the last 4 kms. We turned off the lake and up into scrubby spinifex country for several hundred meters before arriving at our destination.

There were some nice shady eucalyptus in what was otherwise unremarkable dune country between salt lakes. We toasted Damo's memory and then headed back to Yulara where we stayed the night.

Continued at 25S 132E.
