#1: The degree confluence point lies just inside this field

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

25-Jul-2014 -- In a way, it's quite fortunate that this confluence point lies on land. Not only is it close to the shore of Lake Ontario, but it's located on a peninsula (forming Prince Edward County) that juts out into Lake Ontario. (As I visited this point, I was reminded a little of [38,-123] in California, USA., which lies near the tip of a peninsula, but by right should be sitting in the Pacific Ocean.)

To reach the confluence point, I parked at the northern end of "Lodge Lane" - a doubletrack road that's signed as a "Private Road". This is 175 metres north of the confluence point. I then walked south along Lodge Lane to reach the point, which lies just inside a field (growing a crop that I did not recognize).

Just south of the confluence point, you reach the shoreline of Lake Ontario (with a view of nearby Waupoos Island).

I was surprised to learn that mine was the first visit to this point in more than 10 years - as it's a very easy point to reach.

After leaving the confluence point, I visited the nearby "Lake in the Mountain Provincial Park", and then took the Glenora car ferry to continue north-eastwards towards Kingston.
