17-Jun-2013 -- From Rome passing 42N 12E, the route we would take with the rental car included visiting Pisa, Florence, Faenza, Rimini, San Marino, and Venice, visiting the tourist sites in each of these cities.

Once in Rimini, in Savignano sul Rubicone, in the province Forli Cesena, the Emilia Romagna Region where my cousin Michela Baroncini lives. The Rubicone is the river that Julias Caesar crossed in 49 BC with his men challenging the Roman Senate and uttering the famous phrase "Alea iacta est".

With Michela we planned to visit the point 44N 12E, after reviewing previous visits we took the A14 road to Forli and travelled via Andrea Costa to Civitella di Romagna, at 44.0013264°N 11.960663°E we turned left to go up to Montevechio, to the pine forest where the GPS told me, as it had done the previous visitors, we were 600 meters from the point. We left the car at the roadside and looked for an opening in the fence to enter the forest, walking uphill in this humid forest is difficult because the ground was covered with slippery leaves.

After reaching the top, we saw the meadow that we had to go through and find the point in a very dense forest. Once we got to this summit we saw that there were still huge tree trunks which prevented us from walking around, we then looked for a way to get to the other side. We find a threshing/cutting running in parallel with the asphalt road and we assumed it was an internal pathway to cattle farms in the area.

Walking through the cutting and turning off slightly southeast we could come down and get to the meadow, and enter the other forest where the point was. It was not an easy climb, the leafy terrain being uneven, so we got to a distance of 27 meters from the PC, failing to reach the zeros completely.

Once we reached the CP, we started back, this time we decided to take the cutting that we knew would come out to a secluded spot where we had left the car. Walking this way we dealt with some cows which Michela and her daughter Claudia were very afraid of, one of the cows kept us at bay without moving for a few minutes. We walked up to the road, but we were within 1 km of the car, so we started walking uphill on the asphalt road to the car.

Following completion of the target at 3 pm, we decided to have lunch to celebrate, but with finding all the restaurants closed, we went to Rimini for fast food, later that night we would celebrate with a delicious and typical piadina and a walk through the city of Rimini and the beaches.

After visiting nearby cities, we returned to Madrid, where we improvised and could reach the point 40N 4W.
