24-May-2016 -- This was disappointing. At first it looked like this was going to be easy: Drive along forest road “NF-3145” until its closest point - 0.6 miles away; then an easy hike the rest of the way. However, as I drove along the forest road, I saw “No Trespassing” and “Keep Out” signs festooned along the side of the road. It seems that this whole area is part of the “Silvies Valley Ranch” - a prominent ranching operation whose impressive, stylish ranch buildings (with its ubiquitous logo) dominate the whole valley below.

Apparently this ranching empire did not exist (or at least was not as paranoid) 15 years ago, when the Roberts family made the first - and only - successful visit to this point.
