(visited by Ross Finlayson)

29-Jul-2016 -- I was intrigued by this point. It had been visited only once before, in September 2001 (almost 15 years ago), and the visitor described a difficult hike (including getting stuck in a bog). Yet satellite imagery - dating back to at least 2008 - showed a dirt road running next to the point. What was the deal? I had to find out.

I began by driving northwards up a series of country roads, until I found myself on a road that became too narrow for my rental car. So I parked (just over 1 km WSW of the point) and started hiking. At 55.99918°N 21.98267°E, I saw a grassy path leading towards the point, and I followed it - and a series of other paths that got increasingly indistinct - until I ended up having to ‘bushwhack’. At one point I passed through a boggy area - perhaps the same one that had trapped the previous visitor - but avoided getting stuck.

Eventually I crossed a ditch, passed through a field, and found the dirt road - just 3 m or so in front of the point, which lies in long grass. It appears that sometime since September 2001, the dirt road appeared, and a crop of carrots (described by the previous visitor) disappeared.
