03-Aug-2022 -- As I returned to New York State from Vermont, I was looking forward to visiting this Degree Confluence Point in the beautiful Adirondack Park, as it had not been visited in more than 22 years, yet there appeared to be roads (or trails) that passed close by.
Unfortunately, however, I couldn’t find a legal way to access this point. Every access road that I tried ended with a locked gate, signposted with “No Trespassing” signs. This included “Perch Pond Lane” (now signposted as "Trout Pond Lane”), which is the access road that the Schmitts took in July 2000. I couldn’t get any closer than 2.92 miles. Either there is a legal way to access this point that I didn’t find, or else accessing this point now requires permission from a private landowner.
