(visited by Ross Finlayson)

31-Aug-2022 -- Before returning to California from my vacation in Oregon, I decided to cross the Columbia River to visit this ‘forgotten’ Degree Confluence Point that had been visited only once before, by the Kermans, almost 22 years ago. I found this point intriguing. It seemed quite remote, but not particularly difficult to reach. Why had it not been revisited in almost 22 years? My plan was to drive North on Cedar Valley Road, and then look for a road branching to the Northwest. From there, I would ride my mountain bike to the point.

My plan worked perfectly. I was able to ride my mountain bike directly to the point - riding 3.35 miles each way. The waypoints for my visit were as follows:

  1. Park at [45.99622,-120.94150] (2.82 miles from point). Take the gated rural road that forks left here
  2. Turn right (NW) at a 4-way intersection at [45.99314,-120.97333] (1.37 miles from the point)
  3. Turn right (NW) at [45.99791,-120.99316] (0.36 miles from the point)
The point lies in a large grassy meadow, surrounded by pine trees. Mount Adams (a prominent volcanic peak) is visible to the Northwest.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
