22-Sep-2022 -- While touring Arizona's stunningly scenic Monument Valley (which straddles the Utah state line), I was interested to see how close I could get to this Degree Confluence Point. The point lies within the Navajo Indian Reservation, and can’t be reached without permission (apparently, quite hard to get) from the Navajo Nation. A public paved road (US-193) passes northwest of the point, getting 5.16 miles away at its closest approach. Even better, a scenic drive (on dirt/gravel roads) within the Monument Valley Park lets you get a little closer. The north-easternmost point of the scenic drive - Artist Point Overlook - is 4.40 miles from the point. Unfortunately hiking off-road is not allowed, so I couldn’t get any closer. And I couldn’t fly my drone towards the point either (there are literally dozens of “no drone” signs posted throughout the park).
