17-Oct-2023 -- From [44,0], I returned to Bordeaux, and then took roads to the Northwest (West of the Garonne River), ending up parking (like many of the previous visitors) at a turnout at [45.00252,-1.00283], 360m Northwest of the point. From there, I hiked along a sandy doubletrack road. At [45.00109,-0.99924], 135m Northeast of the point, I left the doubletrack and started bushwhacking through the pine forest, towards the point.
During this short hike through the pine forest, I had to deal with bracken ferns, gorse, and blackberries. I could easily have been hiking in my home country of New Zealand, as bracken fern grows natively there, and pine forests, gorse, and blackberries have been introduced. (I found it remarkable how much the trees here have grown since Rainer Mautz’s visit 8 years ago.) The point reminded me a lot of the point [44,-1] just to the South (which I had visited in 2018); that point is also in a commercial pine forest.
Fortunately, I was able to find a clearing in the tree cover to launch my drone. Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
