06-Jan-2001 -- Seeing the www.confluence.org website, my wife and I decided that there were two confluences near to our flat, and that hunting out either one of them would make a different way to spend a wet Saturday. We settled upon 48°N 12°E and set off.
After about an hour's drive we discovered a very muddy field and spent a few minutes aimlessly hunting out the exact confluence (someone hadn't read the GPS instructions and couldn't make the machine take us directly there). From the confluence the beautiful German Alps can be seen to the south, and typical Bavarian forests surround the village of Aßling. A beautiful place, well worth the Confluence hunt.
In the corner of the aforementioned muddy field, there was a small monument marking the location of the confluence, the number of beer bottles revealed that we were not the only people to enjoy the confluence!
