21-Jan-2001 -- It had snowed the night before. Enough snow had fallen to give
everything a thin coverage of snow, but luckily not enough to cause
difficulty driving. The drive was easy and we eventually reached the small
town of Bausendorf. The map showed the confluence as being right off the
road to the south. So I drove down the road while Donna tracked our progress
on the GPS. Soon we got as close as we could to the confluence from the road
but since the road was so narrow there was no place to stop. A couple
hundred meters away we found a small place to pull over and park.
We started walking back to the confluence while monitoring the GPS.
Almost as if someone had planned it, as soon as the GPS read exactly 50N there was
a small dirt path that lead into the forest. We only had to walk on the path
about 10 meters before we found the confluence a couple meters off the path.
We stayed for a while and took some pictures with the digital camera. Then
after the successful confluence hunt we went back to the car and drove
home.
This was a really easy confluence to get to. It is right off the road and
easy to find. Future visitors may want to use the train to get to the
confluence. The Urzig train station is only 500 meters down the road.
