14-Jun-2001 -- Thursday June 14, 2001: Visit at 13:00am
The major road we drove followed almost precisely latitude 63. One of the secondary confluences, 63N 23E was pretty close along the way, but we decided not to try it since it has been visited already and we had a tight schedule to keep - 6 more confluences to go!
In Finland, roads are good and the road network wide-spread so we found ourselves again close from the confluence with a mere 500m hike to go.
After parking the car at the nearby farm, we talked awhile with the farmer, who didn't seem to understand all this business with GPS's, degrees, latitudes and longitudes. City folks with their strange hobbies!
On our way to the spot, after passing under a major powerline, we bumped into something one doesn't expect to see in middle of the forest, far from the closest road: an old Opel Kadett.
Without doing any closer inspection, it seemed to be in amazingly good condition for being a wreck, like the picture #6 shows.
The confluence itself was situated very close to a forest road, on quite damp swamplike ground.
