29-Jul-2001 -- After heading south down the Birdsville track we found we were within 500 metres of the confluence 27S 139E. This is on a property called Clifton Downs through which the Birdsville track passes. A quick navigation over the gibber plain lead us to the spot. The only impediment was that Cheryl had pulled up with a large puddle between us and the confluence point. Some might have called it a lake as it was about 300 m across.
This confluence was number two (on the same longitude) for this trip, and, unlike the first at 26S 139E, was secured in an easy and comfortable manner. Nevertheless we were pleased to have the registered the first confluence along the famous Birdsville track.
