#1: View to the East

(visited by Captain Peter and Werner Furlan)

13-Oct-2003 -- This is our second confluence on our tour through Argentina. After spending the night at the "Grand Hotel" in the small settlement of Rauch today we continued southwards on route Nr. 30 towards the confluence 37S 59W.

Whilst Captain Peter is driving, Werner is watching carefully the scenery and nature. On our way he detected an owl, sitting beside the road.

At a quite corroded road sign we bent into a dirt road which lead us rather directly to the confluence.

Two "gauchos", (South American cowboys) crossed our way with their cattle. A friendly greeting, "que tal, Gaucho!", and further we went. The confluence is only a 300 m off the dirt road within several humid patches, but easy to reach.

The views to the various directions look all similar, so we attach the views to East and to South.

Only a 400 m from the confluence surprisingly there is a small school. It is the School Nr. 28 "Juan Bautista Otegui" of the Ministry of Education of the Province of Buenos Aires. Except for a small hacienda the area seemed to be uninhabited.

It is worth to mention that today is Werner's 48th birthday. Congratulations!

After this successful visit we continued our trip to the next confluence, 37S 60W, passing a beautiful rape field shortly after.
