No podíamos demorarnos.

24-Nov-2005 -- THE JOURNEY OF THE FIVE CONFLUENCES (When Buenos Aires province run out of unvisited land confluences)

I had promised my son Pablito to go hunting confluences with him once I had holidays, and the moment arrived.

Thursday November 24 th at noon, we prepared all and departed with the goal of visiting the last three unvisited confluences of Buenos Aires province and revisit some located in the adjacent area to the south of it.

The idea was to reach six confluences, in this order: 37°S 59°W, 38°S 59°W (unvisited), 38°S 58°W, 37°S 57°W (unvisited), 37°S 58°W (unvisited) and 36°S 58°W.

For this, we spent two days, drove 1200 km (most of them by non-paved roads), jumped 29 fences, walked 15 km in countrysides and 500 meters in flooded lands.

37°S 59°W: EASY ONE TO START

After going south by 300 km of connection from our home in Florencio Varela, on Route 30, between Rauch and Tandil, the confluence 37°S 59°W appeared at 400 meters to the east of our position, in a land where some cows were eating around a windmill.

We entered, jumping our first fence of the trip and reached the desired spot in a few minutes. We took the photographs and quickly we departed to the next objective.

The 38°S 59°W was unvisited and being the 6:00 pm, we didn’t know the difficulties that we would have to face and the darkness would cover us before we could reach our second goal. We couldn’t delay ourselves.
