03-Jan-2005 -- Many thousands of people visit this confluence each year, without ever knowing it. Highway 109 passes well within 100 meters of the confluence, meaning that passing cars are close enough for the project's requirements! Highway 109 carries not only local traffic, but also most traffic bound for the popular beach area of Ocean Shores. Even now, in the dead of winter, there was regular traffic through the confluence, but in the summer, this road will be *swamped* with traffic!

We went to the house to ask permission to visit the confluence. There were no signs of any dogs outdoors, and the cat seemed friendly. Unfortunately, there were also no signs of people around. The confluence appeared to be right in the front yard, a few steps away from a set of steps into the yard, so we stepped over, took a couple of quick pictures, and left. The confluence itself was inside some evergreen trees in the front yard, but the GPS claimed we got within a meter or so. I somehow didn't feel comfortable crawling under someone's tree!

After visiting the confluence, since we were so close, we went to Ocean Shores and enjoyed the natural beauty. This confluence, along with 47°N 122°W and 47°N 123°W, completes a "Mountain to Shore" confluence series for us, running from the flanks of Mount Rainier to the Pacific Ocean.
