(visited by Ross Finlayson)

11-Mar-2018 -- Satellite imagery showed that this point - last visited more than 16 years ago - lies less than 50 m from a dirt road, so I knew that it would be easy for me to visit as long as I could (1) figure out how to get onto this dirt road, and (2) drive along this dirt road in my 2WD rental car. Fortunately, both turned out to be true - making this an easy visit. The entrance to the dirt road (into Weddin State Forest) is at 34.02559°S 148.0438°E - a gate off the Barmedman-Grenfell Road. And the dirt road was quite easy to drive, although there were a handful of rocky or sandy sections where I had to drive slowly. Several times during my drive I saw kangaroos hopping through the bush nearby; I’d be wary of driving here at dusk.

The point itself lies in a small clearing just off the dirt road. It is marked by a rusted metal container, and a tree stump with coloured tape wrapped around part if it. This suggests that it has had other visitors - not part of this project - since the project’s previous visit (by David Allenberg) in January 2002.

Like David Allenberg, I made a point of visiting Grenfell’s historic goldfield park en route to the point.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
